Pokémon Worlds 2026 promos flood the market with Pikachu, Rayquaza, and luxury welcome kits

The Pokémon Company pulled back the curtain on its 2026 World Championships merchandise strategy during the North America International Championships closing ceremony, unveiling a trio of trading card game promo cards and exclusive competitor kits that will roll out across the year.

Three TCG promos headline the release schedule. A new Paradise Resort card will land in competitors' welcome kits, continuing a tradition that began in 2022. The 2026 version adds a gold World Championships stamp and features Pikachu alongside Sylveon, Archaludon, Klawf, and other Pokémon in the background artwork.

A Worlds-themed Pikachu promo carries more intricate imagery, with Gardevoir and a San Francisco skyline framing the card's centerpiece. The design includes a recognizable Golden Gate bridge silhouette in the background. Players can earn this card at Worlds Celebration Tournaments held at Play! Pokémon Stores between August 21 and August 30. Top finishers get a winner's variant stamped in gold, bundled with a microfiber cloth, deck box, and card sleeves. The card should also appear at the main World Championships event and PokémonXP in San Francisco, plus through the Pokémon Center online store with a special code, mirroring the 2025 Worlds Pikachu distribution method.

A Rayquaza promo card stamped with the PXP mark will go exclusively to all badged attendees of both the World Championships and PokémonXP events.

Beyond promos, the company revealed the Championships Welcome Kit reserved for competitors and the Champion's line for tournament winners. The Champion's line features two distinct Pikachu designs: one dressed in royal attire and another in a space suit with Cosmog motifs, appealing to collectors who crave exclusivity tied to competitive achievement.

PokémonXP will draw a heavyweight roster of exhibitors. LEGO, Santa Cruz, Crocs, Funko, Stern Pinball, Build-A-Bear, Jazwares, Bandai, Spirits, and Sideshow are confirmed partners, promising an experience that extends far beyond card play into collectibles, fashion, and entertainment.

The championships themselves are heading west to San Francisco in 2026, with the North America event shifting to Chicago in 2027.

Author Emily Chen: "Pokémon's layering strategy here is smart, tying exclusive cards to specific competitive moments and venues, which should keep collectors chasing the full set all year."
