Rayman Legends Retold Coming October 1 with 3D Sections and Cross-Game Characters

Ubisoft is preparing a revamped take on its beloved 2013 platformer Rayman Legends, with reports suggesting an October 1 release date for the reimagined title.

According to leaker billbil-kun, Rayman Legends Retold will launch on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 with physical copies available. The game is expected to be formally announced within days, potentially during Sony's State of Play event on June 2.

The remake expands significantly on the original formula. The 2.5D platformer now incorporates 3D sections throughout the campaign, a major structural shift from the original's purely side-scrolling design. Online four-player co-op replaces the previous local-only multiplayer offering, opening the experience to players across distances.

Character crossovers will bring recognizable faces from other Ubisoft and PlayStation properties into the experience. Astro Bot and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are confirmed as part of these collaborations.

The $39.99 price point positions Rayman Legends Retold as an accessible entry in the platformer market. The original 2013 release stands as the final mainline Rayman game helmed by the character's creator Michel Ancel, who led the Ubisoft Montpellier studio during its peak years before his departure from the company.

Author Emily Chen: "A $40 price for a full platformer remake with online co-op and crossovers is exactly the kind of value proposition that could win back players who've moved on to newer franchises."
