Team Cherry has brought Hollow Knight: Silksong to store shelves with official physical editions rolling out across Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Preorders are live, with shipments scheduled for October 16, 2026.
The Silksong physical package runs $45 on Switch 2 and $40 on PS5 and Xbox. Inside the box: reversible cover art, a 32-page manual, and a folded poster displaying the full map of Pharloom. The Switch 2 edition bundles both the standard Switch version and the console upgrade, preserving compatibility with original hardware.
One notable absence: the Sea of Sorrow DLC won't ship in the box. Team Cherry confirmed the expansion drops as a free download later, introducing new areas, bosses, and tools as "Hornet's adventures continue in our nautically themed expansion."
A standard Hollow Knight physical edition also launches the same day. The Switch 2 version costs $40 and includes the base Switch release plus upgrade pack, while the PS5 edition goes for $35. Both come with reversible art, a 28-page manual, and mini poster.
Silksong itself arrived as a digital-only release on September 4, 2026, to widespread praise. The game has already moved more than 7 million copies, with millions more players accessing it through Xbox Game Pass. IGN's Tom Marks gave it a 9/10, praising its "sharp platforming, enticing exploration, and nail-biting combat that's all unapologetically challenging in just the right way." The title claimed Best Action-Adventure Game at the 2025 IGN Awards and finished as runner-up for Best Nintendo Game and Game of the Year.
Best Buy and Fangamer are handling preorders in the U.S.
Author Emily Chen: "Physical editions for a game already out feels late, but collector appeal and the bundled upgrade pack make this genuinely useful for players upgrading to Switch 2."
