Disney Lorcana's latest expansion, Attack of the Vine, has arrived with a roster of powerful cards that cap off the game's Vine Saga storyline. The problem: you'll need deep pockets to actually get your hands on any of it right now.
Product is scarce across the board. Booster packs that should cost $12 are fetching double that price on TCGplayer, while full boxes sit at $200 instead of their intended $145. The secondary market is having a field day, but relief is coming. Retailers are expected to restock within days, which should bring prices down to normal levels once supply normalizes.
For anyone seriously hunting right now, here's what's actually out there and what you're up against price-wise.
The Full Lineup and Current Damage
Booster packs contain the standard six commons, three uncommons, two rares or better, and a foil card. Your local game store might have better luck stocking these than online retailers, and they'll likely cost less than the current $24 going rate on the secondary market.
Illumineer's Trove boxes are another story entirely. These bundles normally retail for $50 and pack eight booster packs plus accessories like a storage box with dividers and dice. They're currently listed above $100. That markup is egregious. Hold off unless you enjoy throwing money away.
The Rapunzel Edition Starter Set is where scalpers are really taking advantage. This entry-level product should cost $30 and includes four booster packs, a Rapunzel portfolio case, a special Rapunzel promo card, and a guide. It's selling for $80. That's a catastrophic markup for a beginner product, and there's no reason to cave to those prices.
Illumineer's Quest: The Great Hunny Rescue offers something different from standard card battles. This solo or cooperative game features two player decks, scenario cards, Vine Tendril cards, and encounter cards. It's hovering around $100 but should drop steadily as more copies hit the market.
The good news is none of this is permanent. Once retailers get inventory flowing again, prices will crash back to earth. The bad news is that window could take a few days, and patience is the only real antidote to paying scalper rates right now.
