Hailey Bieber is taking her influence off the red carpet and into your closet. The model and entrepreneur has partnered with Gap to create The Hailey Jean, a limited-edition denim capsule launching July 16 that brings relaxed '90s silhouettes into the present day.
The collection consists of two styles. The first is the Extra Baggy Jean, which Bieber designed around a vintage men's Gap fit she has long favored. The second is the '90s Low-Rise Loose Jean. Both pieces come in three washes personally selected by Bieber, and each pair bears her signature and the year "1996" printed as details. The year marks her birth year, a nod to the era that defines her design philosophy.
Bieber's involvement went beyond lending her name. She shaped the collection across design, merchandising, and marketing decisions, positioning herself as a creative force in the collaboration rather than simply a celebrity endorsement.
The denim itself is constructed from 100% cotton rigid fabric engineered to soften and develop character over time, mimicking the break-in quality of vintage Levi's 501s or classic Calvin Klein styles. This durability and patina-building nature appeals to anyone seeking investment pieces rather than trend-driven throwaway pieces.
"Gap has been a part of my wardrobe since I was a kid, so this came together very organically," Bieber said in a statement. "I get a lot of style inspiration from the '90s because there was something so effortless about that era and the way people wore denim. We wanted the campaign and the collection to capture that same feeling in a way that felt modern, nostalgic, and personal."
Gap's Senior Vice President and Global Head of Design Jane Pattinson emphasized the instinctive understanding Bieber brought to the project. "Hailey understands denim in a very instinctive way, from proportion and fit to how it actually moves and wears on the body," Pattinson said. "Together, we built the collection around the relaxed silhouettes she naturally gravitates toward and the effortless way she styles them in her everyday wardrobe."
The timing capitalizes on what Bieber has already demonstrated throughout her career: an ability to set trends that resonate widely. From elevating capris as a wardrobe staple to establishing her signature red-carpet manicure color, her stamp on fashion culture has proven influential and durable. Now she's channeling that credibility toward a category where accessibility and relatability matter as much as exclusivity.
The capsule drops July 16 at 9 a.m. EST on Gap.com and at Gap locations across North America. Given Gap's track record with viral collaborations and the limited-edition nature of this release, inventory may move quickly.
Author Jessica Williams: "Bieber's partnership with Gap signals that the brand is serious about winning back style-conscious consumers who've drifted toward direct-to-consumer labels, and pairing her genuine aesthetic with accessible pricing might actually work."
