Avatar and Rise of the Ronin Hit PlayStation Plus This Month

Sony is rolling out a major refresh to its PlayStation Plus catalog for July, anchored by two significant titles that should give subscribers plenty of reasons to dive back in.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora lands on July 21 across all regions, joining Rise of the Ronin, which is coming even sooner. The action RPG hits PlayStation Plus on July 15 for U.S. and UK subscribers, with Japan following on July 16. Both games are exclusive to the Extra and Premium tiers.

The month's slate extends well beyond those headliners. Firefighting Simulator: Ignite also arrives on July 21 globally, offering a different flavor of action gameplay. Later in the month, the catalog expands further with a wave of additions on July 28.

That batch includes Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind, a trip down nostalgia lane for longtime fans of the franchise. Dying Light makes the cut for subscribers looking for zombie-infused survival horror, while Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector provides sci-fi narrative gameplay. Snow Bros. Wonderland rounds out the July 28 additions with classic arcade charm.

Sony is continuing to stagger its PlayStation Plus releases across different launch windows, a strategy the company has maintained while experimenting with timing. Most regions outside the U.S., UK, and Japan will see the full month's lineup become available on July 21, rather than trickling in across multiple dates.

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers get their own exclusive additions on July 21, with Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy and Indigo Prophecy joining the classic games library. Both titles are playable across PS5 and PS4.

Author Emily Chen: "Avatar and Rise of the Ronin make July a genuinely strong month for PlayStation Plus, especially for subscribers hunting AAA titles without the full retail price."
