Assassin's Creed Hexe leaks reveal witch-hunting heroine, shock Ezio return

Fresh screenshots and plot details for Ubisoft's next major Assassin's Creed installment have surfaced online, offering a first look at the witchcraft-themed game scheduled for 2027. The leak comes from j0nathan, a leaker with a proven track record of accessing Ubisoft materials.

The disclosed image depicts a hooded Assassin perched on a tree branch in a shadowy woodland setting, Hidden Blade extended and ready. This visual snapshot offers players their clearest view yet of the game's atmosphere and protagonist positioning.

According to the leaked details, the game will center on a female protagonist named Anika, who trains under an established mentor figure called Wolfgang. The mentor relationship suggests a narrative arc focused on her development within the Assassin Brotherhood.

The most startling revelation concerns the return of series legend Ezio Auditore, the beloved protagonist from multiple previous entries. However, fans should not expect to play as or directly encounter Ezio wandering Hexe's forests. Instead, the character will materialize through an Isu recording, a technological artifact that allows players to access memories or messages from the past. This approach mirrors similar mechanics used in earlier games, such as Assassin's Creed Revelations, where Ezio discovered recordings left by Altaïr.

The leak arrives as Ubisoft continues developing Hexe, which has undergone recent adjustments focused on refining its magical elements. Such reworks during development are standard practice and suggest certain features may differ from what leakers have uncovered.

Last month, j0nathan triggered an official Ubisoft response by sharing a work-in-progress image from Assassin's Creed Invictus, the franchise's upcoming multiplayer spinoff. Ubisoft contested the image's authenticity, claiming it had been enhanced using artificial intelligence. The leaker subsequently acknowledged the modification and released the original, unaltered version.

None of these details carry official Ubisoft confirmation. The publisher has been contacted for comment.

Author Emily Chen: "Ezio returning as a ghost in the machine is exactly the kind of fan service Ubisoft knows will move copies, whether this leak proves accurate or not."
