Warhammer 40K Mechanicus II Locks in May Release, Joins Major Games Showcase

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II will launch May 21 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, timed to coincide with the Warhammer Skulls video game showcase that same day.

Kasedo Games and Bulwark Studios' turn-based strategy title revealed its release timing through a new video spotlighting two playable factions. The Adeptus Mechanicus will return with Lector-Dogmatis Videx leading their forces, while the Necron Lord faction gets commanded by a character called The Shield. Both sides will have complete campaign experiences available at launch.

The Warhammer Skulls event kicks off May 21 at 6pm CEST / 5pm BST / 9am PT / 12pm ET, serving as the platform for publisher announcements and game updates across multiple established titles.

Space Marine 2 is expected to receive Patch 13, possibly alongside a release date reveal or immediate release during the showcase. Darktide, Fatshark's co-op shooter, appears poised for fresh content, with hints at a potential new playable class emerging from teaser footage. A fast-moving Servo-skull in the promotional video suggests something new brewing for the title.

Dawn of War IV stands as another likely candidate for an official release date announcement. The real-time strategy entry has been awaited by players and appears ready for a launch window reveal.

The showcase will also bring updates to Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy from Owlcat Games, Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun 2 and Warhammer Survivors from Devolver Digital and Auroch Digital, Total War: Warhammer III from Sega and Creative Assembly, and Battlesector from Slitherine, among others.

One notable absence: Creative Assembly's long-anticipated Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The title has already been announced, and despite expectations of an update during the showcase, it did not appear on the confirmed lineup.

Author Emily Chen: "Mechanicus II finally getting pinned to May 21 with a full showcase day to back it is smart scheduling, but the real intrigue is what Fatshark and Deep Silver are cooking up for their existing franchises."
