The online community behind the dinosaur MMO Path of Titans organized a solemn, wordless tribute this week following the death of Sam Neill, the actor best known for bringing paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant to life across three Jurassic Park films.

Neill died July 13 in Sydney at age 78, closing the chapter on a career that spanned from Spielberg's original 1993 blockbuster through Jurassic World Dominion, along with acclaimed work in Peaky Blinders and The Piano. His portrayal of Grant became iconic enough to anchor the entire franchise in the minds of a generation of fans.

Rather than engage in typical gameplay, a large group of players on the EchoedArk server orchestrated a peaceful procession of dinosaur characters moving silently across the game landscape, accompanied by a piano rendition of the Jurassic Park theme. The scene was captured and posted to TikTok by user DizzyBlues on July 14, drawing over 744,000 views and 155,000 likes within three days.

"Yesterday was a very sad day indeed for millions of us around the world in learning that Sam Neill had passed away," DizzyBlues wrote alongside the video. "And so, the EchoedArk community came together for a peaceful migration in honor of The Dinosaur Man."

The response highlighted a growing tradition in online gaming communities. When Destiny 2 players learned of Lance Reddick's death in March 2023, hundreds congregated at the game's Tower hub to stand together in silence. Similarly, Final Fantasy 14 players honored Berserk creator Kentaro Miura in August 2021 by dressing their avatars as the manga's protagonist Guts to commemorate his legacy.

One commenter on the Path of Titans memorial captured the broader sentiment: "Gaming communities can suck sometimes, but moments like this, Sam Neill and Lance Reddick, really prove how truly great they can be."

The tribute underscores how deeply Neill's work in Jurassic Park penetrated gaming culture. While the actor never appeared in Path of Titans itself, his character and the franchise's DNA run through the game's core concept, creating a natural space for fans to gather and process loss together through their shared passion.
