Magic the Gathering is welcoming the cozy farming world of Stardew Valley into its card game universe. Wizards of the Coast announced the crossover at MagicCon: Amsterdam on July 17, unveiling three separate Secret Lair drops scheduled to launch July 27, 2026, at 9am PT through the Secret Lair website.
The collaboration, playfully named 'The Superdrop of the Moonlight Jellies,' brings cards featuring characters and themes from ConcernedApe's beloved indie farming simulator. Non-foil versions will later appear at WPN game stores.
Among the featured cards is 'Stardew Valley' itself, a land card illustrated by ConcernedApe. The card captures the game's gift-giving mechanic by allowing players to tap a creature, create a food token, and transfer control of one of their permanents to another player, effectively mirroring the friendship-building at the heart of the farming game.
Another standout inclusion is 'Puca's Mischief,' available as a foil Lucky Purple Memento card in select bundles. This card lets players swap nonland permanents of equal or lesser mana value with opponents, adding a layer of negotiation to tabletop play.
The drop offers three distinct card sets: Welcome to Stardew Valley, Life in Pelican Town, and A Flicker in the Deep. Each set is priced separately, with non-foil editions starting at $29.99 and foil versions at $39.99. The Welcome to Stardew Valley set carries a premium at $39.99 for non-foil and $49.99 for foil, reflecting its expanded card pool.
Three bundles cater to different collector preferences. The Grandpa Would Be Proud Everything Bundle includes all three sets in both regular and foil finishes for $219.99. The Prismatic Shard Foil Bundle offers all foil editions for $129.97, while the Traveling Cart Non-Foil Bundle provides standard versions of all three sets for $99.97.
The cards themselves blend Stardew themes with Magic mechanics. 'Welcome to Stardew Valley' features iconic cards renamed after in-game elements, including Swords to Plowshares and Sol Ring. Life in Pelican Town centers on lands reimagined as key locations from the game world, such as the Community Center and Rasmodius's tower. A Flicker in the Deep draws from the mines and slime-focused elements of Stardew's deeper gameplay.
This marks another entry in Magic's ongoing Universe Beyond initiative, which brings intellectual properties from outside the game into the collectible card game. The collaboration reflects growing interest from major franchises seeking to expand into the trading card space.
Author Emily Chen: "Stardew Valley on cardboard is exactly the kind of licensing that makes Magic collectors actually want to pick up a set, not just flip it on the secondary market."
