A new management simulation is giving players a chance to step into the operator's booth of their own haunted attraction. Scream Operator: Haunted House Manager, developed by Japhet Interactive, puts you in control of every spine-tingling detail that makes a haunted house tick.
The game launches on PC in the first quarter of 2027. Players work from a control booth managing the day-to-day chaos of running a successful fright fest: triggering pre-show effects, dispatching ride vehicles through the attraction, positioning props and animatronics for maximum impact, handling merchandise, upgrading equipment and technology, and keeping the books balanced between scares. The pixel-art, top-down design keeps the action focused and accessible.
The core objective is straightforward but challenging: terrify your guests while keeping operations running smoothly. Balancing atmosphere with logistics, maintenance with revenue, and entertainment value with budget constraints creates the strategic tension that drives the gameplay loop.
A playable demo is scheduled to arrive this Halloween, giving interested players an early taste of booth management before the full release. Those eager to get in line can already wishlist the title on their platform of choice.
Author Emily Chen: "It's a clever pitch that taps into something real: the fantasy of operating a major dark ride experience. Whether the execution matches the appeal remains to be seen, but the concept alone is enough to hook genre fans and theme park enthusiasts alike."
