Deltarune Chapter 5 is coming June 24, 2026. The announcement arrived during Nintendo's June Direct presentation, ending over a year of silence since Chapter 4 launched and giving players just 15 days to prepare for the next installment of Toby Fox's parallel story RPG.
The release will hit PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 simultaneously. A 46-second teaser trailer accompanied the reveal, offering glimpses of what's ahead without spoiling the major moments Fox is saving for launch day.
Following the Direct showcase, Fox elaborated on his vision for Chapter 5 through his newsletter. He framed the chapter as a reprieve from the darker narrative threads left dangling at the end of Chapter 4. "In Chapter 4, we saw dark clouds on the horizon," Fox wrote. "That's why, let's not look there for now. Let's turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely. Let's smile again. Let's have one more fun adventure, okay?"
The creator also credited the people behind the announcement. Artist Everdraed designed the trailer, while composer Carlos "insaneintherain" Eiene handled the music. Temmie Chang, the animator and developer best known for creating Undertale's beloved Temmie character, contributed the artwork shown at the trailer's close.
But the most intriguing part of Fox's update concerns what comes next. Chapter 6, he revealed, is progressing faster than expected. "This Chapter is easier to make than the others, so the development is going quite fast," Fox explained, adding that the work on cutscenes and NPC interactions has been particularly productive.
The speedier development timeline could accelerate the entire project's conclusion. Fox hinted that some team members might begin preliminary work on Chapter 7, the planned final chapter, before the year ends. While he stopped short of committing to a specific timeline, the possibility signals that fans may not face another years-long gap between releases.
Deltarune's episodic rollout has been deliberately paced, with Fox prioritizing quality over rushing toward completion. The extended wait between Chapter 4 and 5 tested player patience, but the developer's cautious approach has consistently delivered a polished final product when each installment arrives.
