CD Projekt is hosting a special anniversary broadcast for The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine on May 28, marking nearly a decade since the expansion's release. The event, scheduled for 5pm CEST, 8am PT, 1pm ET, and 4pm UK time, has sent the gaming community into overdrive with speculation about potential new downloadable content for the aging but still beloved RPG.
The studio offered little in the way of details, simply teasing that it would "return once more to the land of knights, vineyards, and vampires." No formal announcements have been promised, yet that hasn't stopped fans from expressing hope that fresh DLC news is coming. Recent reports have suggested the existence of an unannounced adventure featuring a desert-like setting, possibly launching later this year.
Blood and Wine launched on May 30, 2016, as a major expansion that deepened The Witcher 3's world while delivering closure to its central characters. The DLC earned widespread critical acclaim, including a 9/10 review score, for balancing ambitious storytelling with strong character moments across Geralt's final chapter.
Fan reactions on social media ranged from hopeful to skeptical. "If the third DLC isn't announced I will freak out," one user posted. Another expressed wary humor: "Am I getting baited again?" The underlying sentiment was clear: players have been waiting years for confirmation of new content, and the streaming event felt like it might finally deliver.
The timing comes as CD Projekt navigates an ambitious multi-year development pipeline. The Witcher 4 is in active production but won't arrive before 2027 at the earliest, according to company guidance. Beyond that, the studio has mapped out plans for The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6 across a six-year roadmap.
Cyberpunk's future looks considerably more distant. CD Projekt has confirmed that no additional DLC will come for Cyberpunk 2077, with the sequel not expected until at least 2030. However, the universe is expanding in other media, with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arriving as a standalone anime series. CD Projekt will host a panel dedicated to the project at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 3 at 7:30pm PT.
Author Emily Chen: "The anniversary stream feels like a calculated tease, and if nothing materializes, CD Projekt will have wasted goodwill with a fanbase already stretched thin waiting for the next generation of these franchises."
