Sony has revealed its PlayStation Plus monthly roster for June, headlined by Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the co-operative first-person shooter from Fatshark that has found solid footing since its rough PC launch in 2022. The game joins Grounded Fully Yoked Edition and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 in the subscription service's free lineup, available to all PlayStation Plus tiers from June 2 through July 6.
Darktide's timing on the service proves particularly sharp. The game receives the new Skitarii class on June 23, giving fresh subscribers an immediate reason to dive deeper into its grimdark universe. The Skitarii belong to the Adeptus Mechanicus faction of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40K setting, and represent one of several playable archetypes that deliberately sidestep the franchise's iconic Space Marines. Players can instead pilot heavy abhuman tanks called Ogryn, tech-infused clerics, psions, and other character types drawn from across the 40K galaxy.
The June announcement marks Sony's first PlayStation Plus lineup reveal since the company raised subscription prices across all three tiers. New customers now face higher entry fees: Essential climbs to $10.99 monthly from $9.99, Extra jumps to $16.99 from $14.99, and Premium reaches $19.99 up from $17.99. Annual plans also increased, though the 12-month option remained flat, suggesting Sony intends to steer users toward longer commitments.
Existing subscribers remain largely shielded from these increases, with the exception of customers in Turkey and India. The price hikes sparked immediate pushback from players already skeptical of the service's value proposition.
Sony also confirmed that Destiny 2: Legacy Collection, bundled with The Final Shape expansion, arrives June 9 for Extra and Premium tier members. This announcement arrives as the final chapter closes on Bungie's decade-long Destiny franchise, with the studio planning its last update for the game on that same date. The legacy edition marks a poignant bookend to a live service that dominated MMO conversations since 2014. Bungie itself faces uncertain ground following Marathon's commercial failure and forthcoming staff reductions.
Members have until June 2 to claim Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Nine Sols before those titles rotate out. Sony will reveal the complete June Catalog lineup in the coming weeks.
Author Emily Chen: "Darktide deserves the audience boost that PlayStation Plus provides, but bundling it with price hikes feels tone deaf when the service needs goodwill most."
