Prime Video's Lake House Romance Every Year After Arrives This Month with All 8 Episodes

Prime Video is doubling down on young adult adaptations, and the next entry in its growing slate of YA-to-screen projects is Every Year After, launching June 10. The eight-episode series adapts Carley Fortune's bestselling novel Every Summer After, which spent 16 weeks on The New York Times Best Sellers List.

The story centers on Persephone "Percy" Fraser and Sam Florek, two friends who become lovers during consecutive summers at a Canadian lake house in Barry Bay. Their romance unravels when Percy makes a critical mistake that unleashes a dark secret, forcing them apart. Years later, adult Percy returns to Barry Bay and comes face to face with her first love, setting the emotional core of the series.

Sadie Soverall plays Percy, while Matt Cornett takes on Sam. The supporting cast includes Elisha Cuthbert as Sue, Aurora Perrineau as Chantal, Abigail Cowen as Delilah, Michael Bradway as Charlie, and Joseph Chiu as Jordie.

Fortune announced the adaptation in 2024, calling the project years in the making. "I'm so delighted to be able to shout about it," she said at the time. "I can't wait to see Percy and Sam's love story expand and evolve for the screen."

The trailer echoes the emotional tone of Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, another lake-set YA romance that found significant audience traction on the platform. Showrunner Amy B. Harris has already signaled interest in continuing beyond the first season, telling Elle she wants the series to span multiple years. "I personally would love the show to live in many seasons," Harris said, noting that while the book's title references summer, the show explores how characters grapple with consequences across different seasons and timeframes.

All eight episodes arrive on Prime Video on June 10, available to stream immediately.

Author Jessica Williams: "If the trailer delivers on what Harris is promising, this could be the sleeper hit that keeps Prime Video's YA moment alive."
