IO Interactive is implementing a synchronized global launch for 007 First Light, blocking the regional loophole that sometimes lets players jump in early by switching their console location.
The spy thriller becomes playable at 3 PM BST on May 26th for pre-order customers. In North America, that translates to 7 AM PDT and 10 AM EDT. Standard release on May 27th follows the same staggered timing by timezone. Players in New Zealand and Australia gain access at midnight AEST on May 27th if they pre-order, or May 28th for the standard launch.
The simultaneous release means the old trick of changing your system region to play games earlier will not work this time. Everyone globally will start their mission at the exact same moment, preventing a staged rollout across time zones.
IO Interactive has not yet announced pre-load details or file size, leaving players uncertain whether they can download the game in advance. Fans are hoping for the option to prepare over the weekend or early Monday before launch begins.
The game arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned for later. PS5 Pro owners can expect 60 FPS performance, while base PlayStation and Xbox consoles will offer a performance mode hitting the same frame rate, ensuring accessibility across hardware tiers.
007 First Light marks the debut of a reimagined Bond origin story after six years in development. Early previews have praised it as a fresh take on the license, though reception of the full game remains to be seen when it ships next week.
Author Emily Chen: "A simultaneous global launch kills the fun loophole, but at least IO Interactive is being transparent about exact times and making 60 FPS available even on base consoles."
