Resident Evil Requiem's Monster Sales Force Capcom to Boost Earnings Forecast

Capcom is raising its financial projections for the fiscal year after Resident Evil Requiem became a blockbuster hit, pushing the publisher's overall performance well beyond initial expectations.

The latest entry in the survival horror franchise has sold 7 million copies since launch, driving increases across multiple profit categories. Capcom's newly released financial statement confirmed that net sales, operating profit, ordinary profit, and net profit all exceeded the company's previous forecasts.

The publisher now projects net sales of 195.3 billion yen, roughly $1.2 billion, representing a 3 percent increase from its earlier guidance for the 12 months ending March 31, 2026. Net profit is expected to reach 54.5 billion yen, or approximately $320 million, up 6.9 percent from the prior forecast.

Requiem's performance has been extraordinary from the start. The game shipped 5 million copies within its first five days, making it the fastest-selling title in franchise history. The momentum has continued, with the game maintaining strong sales momentum worldwide.

Beyond the new release, Capcom credited renewed interest in legacy titles for contributing to the stronger-than-expected results. The company's catalog franchises, including Monster Hunter and Street Fighter 6, which have received continued content support throughout the year, helped drive additional revenue.

The company also noted that its Arcade Operations and Amusement Equipment divisions performed well, adding to the overall financial boost.

Players have more Resident Evil Requiem content on the horizon. A mysterious update arriving next month is widely expected to introduce a new iteration of The Mercenaries mode, a series staple. Data mining leaks have already surfaced fresh music associated with the mode, fueling speculation among fans. Beyond that monthly update, Capcom has confirmed a full story DLC is in development.

Author Emily Chen: "Requiem's trajectory shows the franchise still has cultural legs, and Capcom's decision to lean into post-launch support could turn this into one of the year's defining success stories."
