Inde Navarrette's gaming credibility just got a major boost, courtesy of one generous fan who handed over a sealed copy of Modern Warfare 2 at Fanatics Fest in New York over the weekend.
The Obsession star was leaving a Call of Duty panel at the Javits Center when the surprise happened. A fan thrust the still-boxed 2009 version into her hands, and her reaction was immediate and unfiltered. "Oh my god!" she gasped, clutching the game. "This is the 2009 version!"
The gift's value became clear moments later. "One recently sold for $1,000," the fan noted. Online listings show sealed Xbox 360 copies fetching anywhere from a few hundred dollars to as much as $20,000, depending on condition and rarity. Navarrette made her position abundantly clear: this one was staying in her collection. "I'm not selling this one!" she declared, hugging it to her chest. When asked where she'd keep it, she answered with a smile, "In my house. In my room."
The viral moment reflected something the gaming community has increasingly recognized about Navarrette over the past year. Beyond her acting work, she's a serious gamer with her own Twitch presence, and clips from her streams have circulated widely across social media, earning her genuine respect from hardcore fans.
Her gaming roots run deep. In an interview with GQ, Navarrette revealed she started as a kid on PlayStation 2, playing Shrek games in Big Head mode with her mom and older brother. From there, she graduated to shooters like Call of Duty and Halo, then moved into narrative-heavy titles like Red Dead Redemption, Outlast, and The Last of Us. She streamed some of this content on Twitch to help pay the bills between acting gigs, before Obsession's box office success changed her trajectory. "So for me, it was like, 'Oh, why not?' If I'm not working on a show and I love playing video games by myself and I love playing with friends, then why not stream? It became a lot of fun," she told the outlet.
That ascent continues to accelerate. Following her film's performance, Navarrette met with Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier to explore MCU possibilities. While nothing is confirmed, the momentum behind her name suggests her next move could be a major one.
Author Emily Chen: "A sealed copy of MW2 is a legendary pull, and the fact that she's keeping it tells you everything you need to know about her commitment to the hobby."
