Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, faces hit-and-run charges following a collision with a parked vehicle in Yountville, California on Friday, according to the Napa County Sheriff's Office.
A witness reported seeing a vehicle strike the parked car, stop briefly, then leave the scene. Deputies tracked the suspect vehicle and located a brown convertible with significant damage to its front right side, consistent with the described impact. The car was partially blocking the roadway near a California Highway Patrol vehicle when authorities arrived.
The 86-year-old Pelosi was identified as the driver. He told deputies he had struck something but did not know what it was, so he continued driving until his vehicle became disabled and could no longer operate. A preliminary breathalyzer test showed no alcohol in his system.
The sheriff's office has referred the case to the Napa County District Attorney's Office for prosecution. Pelosi was not arrested in connection with the incident.
This marks the second vehicle collision involving Pelosi in Napa County. In 2022, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and received a five-day jail sentence. Additionally, Pelosi was attacked at his San Francisco home in 2024 by David DePape, who assaulted him with a hammer. DePape was subsequently sentenced to 30 years in prison for the attack.
