Millie Bobby Brown Plays GTA Like a Model Citizen, Waits for GTA 6

Millie Bobby Brown loves Grand Theft Auto, but she's doing it all wrong, at least by the game's standards. The Stranger Things and Enola Holmes star revealed on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast that she plays Rockstar's open-world crime series as a law-abiding citizen, stopping at traffic lights and refusing to harm pedestrians.

When asked about her favorite video game of all time, Brown immediately named GTA. She described it as a passion she'd kept private until now. The twist: she follows every rule in a game designed to reward rule-breaking.

"I'm so excited for GTA," Brown said. "I follow the rules in GTA. I don't break the rules. I stop at the red lights, I never run anyone over."

Her husband finds the approach baffling, Brown explained. "He's like, 'Why are you playing this like it's The Sims?'" she recalled. "I'm like, 'I'm gonna go to the strip club but I'm not going to get drunk.' I'm very, very good."

Brown even justifies the missions that require her character to eliminate targets. She doesn't view herself as a hitman taking jobs, but rather as a vigilante on a moral mission. Even when driving to objectives, she frames it as her character simply commuting to work.

Her eagerness for GTA 6 comes as Rockstar has begun its marketing push ahead of the game's November launch. Recent promotional materials have showcased the game's graphics, though the publisher's decision to include download codes instead of actual discs in physical copies has drawn fan criticism. The company faces other headwinds, including ongoing unionization efforts from employees and confirmation that the game won't run at 60 frames per second on current generation consoles.

Author Emily Chen: "There's something oddly endearing about approaching a game designed for digital chaos with suburban commuter energy, but Brown's method suggests some players want the world of GTA without actually embracing what makes it transgressive."
