Arc System Works has unveiled the final roster additions for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, completing the fifth and final team with three fresh playable characters alongside the previously confirmed Ghost Rider. Blade, Deadpool, and Loki will round out what the studio calls the Samurai Outriders, led by Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider.
The Deadpool footage proved the most entertaining, packed with layered references that reward close attention. Nolan North voices the character, and his moveset includes a recreation of Mortal Kombat's iconic 'Toasty!' callout, the Ball Buster technique from Johnny Cage, and the Jack-O'-Pose borrowed from Arc System Works' own Guilty Gear series. There's even a wink toward fan speculation that the team would carry the Midnight Sons moniker.
But the real hidden gem arrives at the 1:43 mark of the reveal trailer. When Deadpool unleashes a move he dubs 'random bulls**t go,' he batters his opponent with the geometric head of Polygon Man, the purple polygonal face that served as Sony's original PlayStation mascot concept in 1995 before Sony abandoned the design. The character resurfaced decades later as the main villain in 2012's PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
The inclusion opens a playful door to multiverse speculation. With Polygon Man now appearing in a Marvel fighting game published by PlayStation, one could argue that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls now occupy the same universe. It's the kind of fan-service easter egg that bridges gaming history in unexpected ways.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches August 6, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC. Sony announced a three-day open beta running July 24-26 across both platforms, giving players a chance to test the full roster before the official release.
Author Emily Chen: "Deadpool's moveset alone makes this roster worth watching, and pulling in Polygon Man as a callback shows Arc System Works understands exactly what makes the fighting game community tick."
