Netflix, CD Projekt Red, and Studio Trigger have pulled back the curtain on the next chapter of their anime series, confirming that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will arrive sometime in fall 2026. The announcement introduced four new characters who will anchor the sequel's standalone story, each carrying their own baggage through Night City's neon-soaked streets.
The first look at this new cast came via social media and collaborative posts from Netflix and various content creators. Weak Kingsley is a veteran edgerunner living in eclipse, overshadowed by his own history. D hunts for revenge as a Snack Nation netrunner seeking the person responsible for destroying his clan. Roman Carax, the youngest addition, chases real stories in a metropolis that traded cinema for braindances. Talia Yang rounds out the quartet, her allegiances split between corpo and Maelstrom worlds, with a hunger for chrome and violence.
All four characters appear on the poster for the new season, their designs created by Kanno Ichigo. Director Kai Ikarashi returns to helm the project, while writers Bartosz Sztybor and Masahiko Otsuka are back crafting the narrative. The sequel is structured as a self-contained 10-episode arc, described as a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge set against the backdrop of a city that profits from spectacle.
Netflix first announced the show's greenlight in July 2025 with a brief teaser. The studio plans to share another preview video at 8:30 a.m. Pacific time tomorrow, though expectations remain low for a pinned release date anytime soon. The broader plot remains shrouded, though the catastrophic events of Season 1 have set expectations low for what happens to this fresh ensemble.
Author Emily Chen: "The fact that they're still holding back a firm date while building hype suggests Netflix is confident this thing will deliver, but the real question is whether they can capture what made the first season's mess so compelling."
