Roblox is making a play for adult gamers, rolling out six new 18+ titles through its Incubator program, a six-month developer support initiative designed to turn promising prototypes into finished games. The 2026 cohort spans 26 teams, each receiving resources and backing as they hit development milestones.
The marquee entry is Drifters, an extraction shooter helmed by Alexander Seropian, the co-founder of Bungie now running Look North World. The studio has assembled talent from Bungie, Disney Interactive, EA, and Epic Games to build what Seropian describes as a game set in hostile terrain where both enemies and other players pose serious threats.
Seropian's pivot to Roblox marks a notable shift for the veteran developer. "I spent my career trying to zig while others have zagged," he said, calling his time on Roblox "the most exciting and personally rewarding" work since his early PC game development days. He praised the platform's growth potential and tooling, citing the quality and depth available to developers building on the engine.
Beyond Drifters, the Incubator slate shows range. Ghost Fox Games is developing Cosmic Carnage, a destruction derby title that leans into vehicle combat in the vein of Twisted Metal. Nibblebyte is creating Fossil Force, a dinosaur-themed extraction shooter that expands on themes from the studio's earlier Be Dino simulation.
The remaining three projects pivot toward exploration and progression. Pixel Blaze Studio's Aetherfall positions itself as an open-world RPG where elemental powers shape the landscape. Pixel Count is building Sky Pixel, a 2D action-adventure focused on island construction and automation. Ignition Switch's Octane offers open-world driving through the city of La Vista, with tools for track design and vehicle customization.
Launch dates remain unannounced as Roblox continues its push to retain players aging out of its traditional demographic. The company has closed applications for the current Incubator cohort but opened a Jumpstart initiative for developers new to Roblox game creation.
Author Emily Chen: "Seropian bringing serious shooter chops to Roblox signals the platform is serious about competing for adult players, not just filling the coffers with kid games."
