Olivia Rodrigo Lands in Fortnite Today

Olivia Rodrigo is now available in Fortnite, marking the latest high-profile musical crossover for Epic Games' battle royale. The popstar joins a growing roster of major recording artists who have made appearances in the game's virtual world.

The timing coincides with the release of Rodrigo's third album, "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love," which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart this week. The album achieved the biggest launch of any solo artist in 2024.

Rodrigo's career spans from her early days as a child actor on Disney's "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" to becoming a Grammy-winning pop sensation. She has recorded hits including "Drivers License," "Good 4 U," "Vampire," and "Drop Dead," and headlined Glastonbury Festival in 2023. She holds three Grammy Awards.

Within Fortnite, players can locate Rodrigo's in-game character on the Island to collect free cosmetic items. Additional content is available through the item shop rotation, including two skins modeled after her looks from music videos, along with emotes and Jam Tracks compatible with the game's Festival mode, which draws inspiration from Rock Band gameplay.

Her partnership continues Fortnite's pattern of securing major music industry names. Previous collaborations have included Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Metallica, Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, and Sabrina Carpenter.

Author Emily Chen: "Fortnite's music crossover machine keeps rolling, and Rodrigo's arrival shows the game remains the place where pop stars want to be seen."
