Project Motor Racing gets nine classic race cars and new track in latest DLC push

Straight4 Studios is doubling down on its racing sim overhaul with the GT Icons Pack, a new expansion that delivers nine vintage race cars spanning three decades of motorsport history, plus an original circuit.

The cars arrive in three themed groups. The GT 60 lineup features the 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, 1964 Shelby Daytona Coupe, and 1965 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight. The Sports Car 67 era pulls in the 1967 Chaparral 2F, 1967 Ford Mk.IV, and 1967 Lola T70 Mk 3. The GT 70 set rounds out the roster with the 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, 1973 Chevrolet Corvette C3, and 1973 Ford Capri RS3100.

The new track, called Rocky Knoll Raceway, is an original circuit inspired by the real-world Road America layout.

This expansion marks the first major DLC push since Straight4 brought in Aristotelis Vasilakos as chief creative officer in late May. Vasilakos comes from serious racing simulation pedigree, having served as head of vehicle handling for Assetto Corsa: Competizione and working on physics and handling for the original Assetto Corsa. His arrival signals a strategic shift for Project Motor Racing, which launched in November 2025 to a lukewarm reception.

The studio released a substantial overhaul in March aimed at rebuilding the sim from the ground up, repositioning it as a title serious racers might actually want to play. The GT Icons Pack appears to be the next phase of that recovery strategy, adding the kind of classic machinery and track variety that hardcore sim racing fans expect.

Author Emily Chen: "Vasilakos is exactly the kind of hire that might actually fix this thing, but one DLC pack and a foundation update won't be enough to overcome that rough launch."
