Art the Clown Slashes Into Dead by Daylight This November

Behaviour Interactive confirmed today that Art the Clown, the sadistic antagonist of Damien Leone's Terrifier franchise, will arrive in Dead by Daylight as a playable killer in November 2026. The announcement came during the game's 10th Anniversary Broadcast, where actor David Howard Thornton, who portrays the character, appeared on stage to reveal the collaboration.

The move caps years of fan requests for the horror icon's inclusion in the asymmetrical multiplayer title. Art has become one of modern horror's most recognizable villains, particularly following the box office success of Terrifier 2 in 2022 and Terrifier 3 in 2024. Leone created the character years ago, but the character's cinematic breakthrough came with the first feature-length film in 2016.

Dead by Daylight has built an impressive roster of licensed killers from horror's greatest hits: Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Ghostface, the Saw killer Jigsaw, Chucky from Child's Play, and Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's all stalk survivors in The Fog. Art the Clown joins this pantheon of nightmares, though Behaviour has shared minimal details about how the killer will function within the game's mechanics.

Thornton's surprise appearance drew a strong reaction from the crowd at the anniversary event, but the studio held back specifics about the chapter's contents. Players can reasonably expect Art to operate as the new killer with corresponding survivor cosmetics and map additions, though official confirmation remains pending.

Damien Leone acknowledged the long journey to this collaboration on social media, calling it "the most requested collab" for years. Leone has Terrifier 4 in development, which he has indicated will serve as the final installment in the franchise, though no release date has been announced.

Author Emily Chen: "After years of begging for this, fans finally get their wish, and it couldn't come at a better moment for Dead by Daylight to prove it's still the horror game that matters."
