A private aircraft carrying 11 skydivers and a pilot crashed near Butler, Missouri, on Sunday morning, killing all aboard. The plane departed Butler Memorial Airport shortly before 11:30 a.m. and went down near Business 49 Highway within minutes of takeoff.
Emergency responders descended on the scene after the crash, which left wreckage scattered across a grassy area with smoke visible from miles away. Online videos captured the devastated remains of the aircraft, charred and twisted beyond recognition. The response involved multiple agencies, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Butler Police Department, Bates County Sheriff's Office, Federal Aviation Administration, and National Transportation Safety Board.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed the fatality count in a post on social media, noting that all 12 occupants had perished. The FAA identified the aircraft as a Pacific Aerospace P750 and stated that air traffic services were not being provided at the time of the departure.
The National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the crash. The exact cause remains under review as federal investigators begin examining the wreckage and gathering evidence from the scene.
