The Dungeon Crawler Carl phenomenon just got bigger. Hot on the heels of the series' eighth book and a confirmed Peacock television adaptation, fans can now preorder the official tabletop RPG rulebook and miniature sets directly from Amazon.
Renegade Game Studios' tabletop adaptation became a crowdfunding juggernaut when it launched on Backerkit in April, raising over $13 million against a $250,000 goal. The project obliterated expectations, and now those who missed the backing window can secure their copies through retail.
The core rulebook forms the foundation of play. It's technically the only product needed to start a campaign, though the miniature sets enhance the experience considerably. According to the official YouTube guide, the system emphasizes player agency through a skills-based framework with no hard limits on what abilities characters can develop.
Four skill categories form the mechanical backbone: Attack Skills covering weapons and combat techniques, Spell Skills for magic users spending mana, Utility Skills governing interaction and crafting, and Passive Skills that remain constantly active. Players roll a 20-sided die for checks, but game masters never touch the d20, inverting the traditional dungeon master control dynamic found in games like Dungeons & Dragons.
The first miniature set, called The Royal Court, includes nine painted figures of the series' central cast. Carl appears twice in different configurations: once with a bomb and once alongside Princess Donut. The set also features Princess Donut on her own, Princess Donut riding Mongo, multiple versions of Mongo at different life stages, and the characters Katia and Samantha.
A second miniature collection focuses on supporting characters and antagonists beyond the main group. This 10-figure set includes Hekla, Eva, Prepotente, Bianca, and three versions of Lucia Mar representing different states, plus Quan Ch, Florin, and Lucia Mar's dogs Gustavo 3 and Cici.
Amazon also lists a starter set, though retailer details remain sparse. The Backerkit campaign page indicates it concentrates on introductory gameplay, teaching new players how to navigate Borant's World Dungeon through tutorial mechanics.
Author Emily Chen: "This feels inevitable. Dungeon Crawler Carl's explosion into multimedia and now tabletop shows what happens when a story captures readers so completely they're ready to follow it anywhere."
