Final Fantasy 16 Arrives on PlayStation Plus This Month

Sony is rolling out a fresh batch of games to PlayStation Plus subscribers in June 2026, with Square Enix's sprawling RPG Final Fantasy 16 leading the charge on the platform's Extra and Premium tiers.

The subscription service is testing a new release schedule in the U.S., UK, and Japan, staggering game arrivals throughout the month instead of dropping them all at once. This mirrors the approach Xbox Game Pass uses. Subscribers outside those three regions will get access to the full lineup on June 16.

Beyond Final Fantasy 16, the catalog expands with Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a medieval RPG that eschews magic and fantasy tropes for grounded combat and storytelling. Black Desert, Pearl Abyss' open-world MMORPG, rounds out the heavier action offerings.

For players wanting variety, Sonic X Shadow Generations brings speedster gameplay, while Farming Simulator 25 delivers relaxation for those chasing agricultural pursuits. Life is Strange: Double Exposure adds narrative adventure to the mix as the penultimate title in the franchise, and Blades of Fire, developed by MercurySteam of Castlevania and Metroid Dread fame, offers action-adventure gameplay.

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers get an exclusive bonus: Gitaroo-Man, the PS2 rhythm classic, arrives on PS4 and PS5 for the first time.

Here's the full release schedule with staggered dates for the three pilot regions.

Sonic X Shadow Generations launches June 10 in the U.S. and UK, June 11 in Japan. Final Fantasy 16 arrives June 16 everywhere. Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Life is Strange: Double Exposure both hit June 23. Farming Simulator 25, Blades of Fire, and Black Desert drop June 30. Gitaroo-Man for Premium members arrives June 16.

Author Emily Chen: "Final Fantasy 16 as the anchor draw makes sense, but the staggered rollout might frustrate players used to everything hitting at once."
