A tractor-trailer loaded with fireworks became an accidental pyrotechnic show on Interstate 75 in Tennessee on Saturday, with rockets and sparks shooting across the highway as spectators watched from an overpass.
The vehicle caught fire near Ooltewah, igniting the full cargo of fireworks stored in the trailer. Video from the scene captured the explosive display unfolding across multiple lanes, with devices detonating in chaotic directions and lighting up the roadway.
The Ooltewah area volunteer fire department responded quickly to the incident, containing the blaze before it could spread. In a statement, officials confirmed that all fireworks in the trailer became involved in the fire and ignited during the emergency.
Despite the hazardous nature of the explosions, which created unpredictable trajectories across the highway, first responders reported no injuries to drivers or bystanders. The situation was brought under control without incident, though the detonations posed a risk to traffic in the area.
