Obsidian Entertainment's long-awaited Fable reboot finally has a firm release window: February 23, 2027. The date clears a significant gap from Grand Theft Auto 6's September launch, giving the fantasy RPG its own window in the crowded AAA calendar.
Preorders are now live across Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC at major retailers. The game will ship in three distinct editions, each with different perks and price points, though all preorder customers will receive the same base bonus content pack regardless of tier.
The Standard Edition arrives as either a physical disc or digital download and costs the expected full retail price. Everyone who secures a preorder gets access to the "questionably heroic Chicken Suit" along with in-game gift items: a Wild Flower Bouquet, Toy Chicken, and Scones and Jam Picnic Hamper. These gifts factor into reputation building within Albion, the game's setting, shaping how other characters perceive your hero.
Stepping up to the Premium Edition, priced at $99.99 for a full digital purchase or $39.99 as an upgrade, unlocks early access allowing you to play starting February 18, giving you five full days before the official launch. This tier also includes the Fable: Order of the Hero expansion, a story-driven DLC that explores a dark ancient cult hidden within Albion. The expansion launches post-release but comes included with no extra charge.
Premium buyers receive additional gift items: three each of Queen's Bouquets, Bags of Offal, and Decadent Gold Leaf Bread for reputation manipulation. They also get the Premium Content Pack, which includes two distinct cosmetic armor sets: the refined Splendid Armour and the rugged Bastard Armour, complete with matching footwear, legs, and torso pieces.
At the top sits the Collector's Edition for $199.99, currently exclusive to the Xbox Gear Store. It bundles everything from the Premium Edition with physical collectibles: a Jack of Blades statue, hardcover art book, Steelbook case, and custom Heroes Guild Seal pin. The Collector's Edition was out of stock at time of reporting.
PlayStation 5 remains confirmed for the February 23 launch, a notable commitment from Microsoft despite recent decisions to make other titles like Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution Xbox console exclusives. Fable will also arrive day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
A fresh trailer unveiled at Xbox's recent showcase featured British actor Hayley Atwell as the main villain, with a surprise teaser of Jack of Blades, the original game's iconic antagonist, suggesting deeper narrative connections to the franchise's roots.
Author Emily Chen: "The Premium Edition's inclusion of a full story expansion at that price point makes it the real value play here, especially if early access matters to you."
