Tomb Raider Remake Pushed to 2027, Leaks Reveal New Timeline

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will not arrive this year. Amazon listings that briefly surfaced online show the remake now targeting February 10, 2027, a significant slip from its original 2024 window.

The listings, which have since been removed, confirmed a $59.99 price tag and the delayed release window. Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games have not yet provided an official statement on the postponement, though the timing is telling. The game will now arrive just weeks after Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 6 launches in November 2026, a release that will dominate the gaming landscape and likely influence release strategies across the industry.

The February 2027 date also puts Tomb Raider in direct competition with Microsoft's Fable, which was recently pushed to the same month. Both major publishers appear to be clearing space away from GTA 6's gravitational pull.

Legacy of Atlantis is a full remake of the 1996 original that launched the franchise. It marks a fresh start for the character and series after the Survivor Trilogy concluded. Alix Wilton Regan has taken over the role of Lara Croft from Camilla Luddington, who voiced the character throughout the recent trilogy.

This is not the only Tomb Raider project in motion. Crystal Dynamics is simultaneously developing Tomb Raider: Catalyst, an entirely new entry in the series also scheduled for 2027. Both games are being published by Amazon Games.

The studio has faced significant headwinds over the past year. Crystal Dynamics, owned by Embracer Group, conducted four rounds of layoffs across 12 months, yet management maintained that the company remained committed to advancing the Lara Croft franchise. Amazon is investing heavily in the property beyond games, with a Tomb Raider television series in development for Prime Video starring Sophie Turner.

Author Emily Chen: "Two Tomb Raider games in 2027 is ambitious, but delaying the remake away from GTA 6's shadow was the smart move, even if it leaves fans waiting longer."
