Dallas apartment complex collapses in fiery inferno after gas explosion kills three

A massive fire erupted at a Dallas apartment complex Thursday following a natural gas explosion that left the structure in ruins and claimed three lives, including a child.

Aerial video captured firefighters working to contain the blaze as flames consumed the building, ultimately reducing it to rubble. Thick black smoke rose from the site as crews battled the fire, with the structure appearing completely destroyed from above.

Dallas Fire Rescue Assistant Chief James Russ confirmed at a press conference that a natural gas explosion sparked the initial fire. The blast killed two women and a child, officials said.

The incident underscores the dangers posed by gas-related accidents in residential properties. Emergency responders arrived to find an already catastrophic scene with the apartment complex severely compromised by the initial explosion.

Author James Rodriguez: "When a structure comes down this fast and completely, you're looking at the kind of explosive force that gives first responders almost no margin for error."
