Vanessa Trump disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis Wednesday in an Instagram post, revealing that she has already undergone a medical procedure and is developing a treatment strategy with her physicians.
The 48-year-old ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. announced the news to her followers, describing herself as "focused and hopeful" despite the unexpected diagnosis. She thanked her medical team for work performed earlier in the week and asked the public to respect her privacy during her recovery.
"While this isn't news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan," Trump wrote in her statement. She emphasized her gratitude for family support, saying their kindness "truly means more than I can express."
Vanessa was married to Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Donald Trump, from 2005 to 2018. The couple share five children together. She has been dating professional golfer Tiger Woods in recent years.
Ivanka Trump, her former sister-in-law, responded with encouragement on social media, writing: "Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama."
Author Sarah Mitchell: "Cancer diagnoses always hit different when they arrive without warning, and Vanessa's straightforward approach to sharing hers speaks to someone focused on the fight ahead."
