Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Switch 2 Preorders Drop to Match Rivals, Still Sweetened by Exclusive MTG Card

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 next month, and retailers are now competing on price while dangling some unusual perks to lock in preorders early.

Amazon UK has slashed its preorder price for the physical version to £43.99, down from an initial £49.99, matching Argos on cost. Both retailers are offering the game as a Game-Key Card format, which is the Switch 2's physical media solution.

The headline draw for preordering now is a limited edition Magic: The Gathering card featuring Zack Fair. This borderless version comes with variant art by Tetsuya Nomura, the character designer behind the Final Fantasy 7 saga. The card arrives in the box as a preorder exclusive.

Argos sweetens the deal further with additional in-game bonuses: a Posh Chocobo Summon Materia, a Shinra Bangle Mk. II, and a Midgar Bangle Mk. II. Amazon's listing does not currently show these items, appearing to focus solely on the MTG card and a reversible alternate box art inlay that both retailers offer.

Rebirth launched on PlayStation 5 in early 2024 and arrived on PC in 2025, but this marks the game's first appearance on Nintendo hardware. An Xbox Series X|S version is also planned for the same June release window.

Square Enix has already made a demo available on the Nintendo eShop for those wanting a taste before committing. Save data from the demo transfers to the full release. Owners of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade can also claim the free Leviathan Summoning Materia by carrying over their main story progress, with an additional Ramuh summon available if they also have saves from the INTERmission DLC chapter.

Author Emily Chen: "The MTG card collaboration is a clever twist on typical game preorder bonuses, though the Argos bundle's in-game items actually feel more valuable than a collectible card most players will probably never open."
