LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is charging into stores next month, with players who purchase the deluxe early access version getting a three-day head start on everyone else. The game launches on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The action-packed title pulls from the entire Batman universe, weaving together storylines from the comics, the 1989 films, and even the campy 1960s television series. One standout detail: the game includes the Batsuit from Gotham by Gaslight, the steampunk-themed Elsewords comic that arrived in 1989. The game itself combines hard-hitting combat with an open-world Gotham City rendered in LEGO's signature blocky style and comedic charm.
IGN gave the game an 8/10 in their review, praising the open-world design and noting that LEGO's trademark slapstick humor delivers strong laughs throughout what amounts to a plastic parody of Batman's greatest moments.
Early access players can expect rollout beginning Monday, May 18. Console players with early access will log in at midnight their local time on Tuesday, May 19. PC players get a staggered launch starting at 10am PT on Tuesday, May 19, then spreading across other time zones through Wednesday, May 20.
The full release for all players hits console at midnight on Friday, May 22 across major time zones, while PC launches at 10am PT on May 22, with rollout continuing through Saturday, May 23 for players in Asia-Pacific regions.
Author Emily Chen: "A plastic Batman game leaning hard on the goofy 1960s show alongside modern comic storytelling is exactly the kind of tonal mishmash LEGO does best, and an 8/10 suggests they nailed it."
