Pearl Abyss is moving fast on Crimson Desert, releasing update 1.07.00 just days after the previous patch hit. The developer has signaled it's adopting an MMO-style update cadence for the single-player action adventure, drawing on lessons learned from running Black Desert, its flagship online title.
The headline feature of this latest drop is the Blinding Flash Finisher, a new unarmed combat skill for Kliff. The ability lets players deal massive damage to stunned enemies while time slows down, and if you hold the button through the entire slow-motion sequence, Kliff unleashes a shockwave that radiates outward. It's devastating against groups of weaker foes and packs serious punch against tougher enemies. For players committed to a fisticuffs-only approach, it fills a crucial gap in their arsenal by granting access to one of the game's most powerful moves.
Damiane, the female playable character, also gets unarmed combat skills in this patch. Both she and Oongka, the third character option, now have access to Aerial Stab, pushing Pearl Abyss's ongoing effort to make alternatives to Kliff feel equally viable in combat.
The patch also repairs an issue that sparked community friction earlier this week. Damiane's Elegant Carmine Leather Armor had been altered in a way that covered previously exposed skin, prompting social media comparisons and complaints of censorship. Some players even left negative reviews on Steam. Pearl Abyss clarified that the change was unintentional, occurring while the studio fixed a clipping bug with the garment. This update resolves that underlying issue.
Other quality-of-life improvements round out the release. New wolf and bear types can now be registered as mounts, and several bosses are available for rematch encounters at fresh locations, including Muskan at Bonepit, Corrupted Caliburn at Fort Musket, Goyen at Spire of the Sun, Draven the Crowcaller at Church of West Demeniss, and Clockwork White Horn at Gate to Advancement. The patch log extends to dozens of bug fixes, from quest progression issues to animation problems to GPU crashes on certain AMD drivers.
Crimson Desert's rapid patch schedule comes as the game celebrates blockbuster commercial success. Since launching on March 19, it has sold 5 million copies and generated approximately 178.8 million dollars in revenue during March alone. Pearl Abyss is projecting the title will exceed half a billion dollars in revenue by the end of 2026.
The developer has confirmed plans to explore DLC content. Player discoveries of out-of-bounds areas containing unused map sections and an inaccessible region called Sunbaked Peaks to the east suggest potential directions for story expansions.
Author Emily Chen: "Pearl Abyss isn't sleeping on Crimson Desert's momentum, and these back-to-back patches show they're serious about keeping players engaged long term."
