Bond Game Finally Hits 60fps After Months of Fan Backlash

IO Interactive has resolved one of the major concerns hanging over its upcoming James Bond title, confirming that 007 First Light will deliver smooth 60-frame-per-second performance on PlayStation hardware.

When the studio showcased gameplay footage in September 2025, players immediately flagged frame rate stutters during intense action sequences. The choppiness sparked worry among fans ahead of the game's May 27 launch, putting pressure on the developer to address the issue before release.

The studio has now delivered good news. On PS5 Pro, the game will run at 60fps. Base PS5 owners will also get that frame rate in performance mode, with an alternative quality mode that bumps up graphical fidelity at the cost of dropping to 30fps.

IO Interactive has not publicly detailed Xbox Series X specifications, though comparable performance tiers are expected. The Series S, with its more limited hardware, remains unclear. Console iterations of the Series S typically don't offer the same breadth of graphics customization as their more powerful siblings, leaving its exact performance profile uncertain.

Despite the earlier technical hiccups, hype for the title remains strong. The studio has emphasized that moving into the spy genre won't mean abandoning the Hitman franchise that built its reputation for meticulous, player-driven gameplay design.

007 First Light launches May 27 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Author Emily Chen: "IO Interactive needed this win, and delivering a locked 60fps after that September showcase stumble should settle a lot of nerves going into launch."
