Vampire RPG from Witcher 3 Creators Gets September Release Date

The Blood of Dawnwalker is coming September 3, 2026 to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The announcement caps months of anticipation for the single-player open-world vampire role-playing game from Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by veterans of CD Projekt's The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk franchises.

The timing places the game nearly two months before Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 6, giving it substantial breathing room in what shapes up to be a crowded fall release window for major titles.

Rebel Wolves positioned the game as the opening installment of what it calls a "brand new role-playing saga." Set in 14th-century Europe with a dark fantasy aesthetic, the world spans Vale Sangora, a fictional region nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, and centers on a protagonist named Coen whose choices ripple across the narrative landscape.

Alongside the release date, the studio unveiled a new story trailer that introduces the cast Coen will cross paths with throughout his journey. Some figures emerge as allies, others as outright adversaries, though all reportedly carry weight in shaping the campaign's arc. The footage revealed never-before-seen locations across Vale Sangora and peeled back the curtain on how Rebel Wolves constructed the game's open-world structure.

The developers shared over 10 minutes of gameplay captured on a recent PC build, with particular emphasis on narrative-driven activities that leverage the open world rather than shallow side quests. One notable addition to the motion-capture cast is Jan Błachowicz, the former UFC heavyweight champion, who lent his physicality to Bakir, a vampire antagonist tied to a character named Brencis.

The Blood of Dawnwalker represents a significant bet for Rebel Wolves, which spun out from CD Projekt with the explicit goal of building something fresh rather than chasing the shadow of its parent studio's mega-franchises. The game's approach to vampire mythology in a historical setting, combined with the pedigree of its leadership, has already drawn considerable interest from RPG enthusiasts starved for ambitious single-player experiences.

Author Emily Chen: "With this September slot and a talented team behind it, The Blood of Dawnwalker could be the dark-horse RPG that reminds players why player choice and gothic atmosphere still matter."
