Bungie's Marathon Controller Drops 18% Weeks After Launch

Bungie's limited-edition Marathon DualSense controller is now selling for $69.68 at both Amazon and Walmart, marking an 18% price cut from its original launch price. The drop came surprisingly fast, with the PS5 gamepad hitting its lowest price yet just weeks after the controller debuted.

The controller was released alongside Marathon, Bungie's extraction shooter that launched in March. Sony rolled out a small collection of themed PS5 accessories to mark the game's arrival, with this special edition pad as a centerpiece.

Aesthetically, the design takes a more subtle approach compared to typical limited-edition DualSense controllers. The pad features a standard white shell paired with black and neon green Marathon branding across the grips and touchpad. The back of the controller displays the game's logo in matching neon lettering, striking a balance between distinctive and understated.

The cosmetic customization makes the controller appealing, but the real draw now is the pricing. At nearly 70 dollars, the limited-edition pad is edging into standard DualSense territory, making it a much more attractive proposition for players who want a themed controller without spending premium dollars.

Bungie has been actively supporting Marathon since launch. A recent 1.0.6 patch introduced gameplay changes and messaging focused on encouraging players to be more considerate. The studio's efforts to make Marathon more casual-friendly appear to be resonating, with community reactions staying positive following the update rollout.

Author Emily Chen: "A limited-edition controller at standard pricing is hard to pass up, especially when the game behind it is finally hitting its stride."
