Final Fantasy XIV Joins Forces With Jollibee for Exclusive Chicken Emote and Crossover Merch

Square Enix is partnering with Jollibee, the Filipino fast food giant, to bring Final Fantasy XIV into restaurants across North America and back into players' game clients. The collaboration runs from April 21 through May 31 and includes in-game rewards, limited apparel, and themed menu items.

The headline prize is a new emote called "Eat Chicken" that lets players pull out a bucket of fried chicken and dig in. To unlock it, customers need to buy a qualifying meal at participating Jollibee locations in the US or Canada, or purchase collaborative clothing from Complex.com, then submit their order details through Jollibee's redemption page. Once validated, players receive an item code via email that they redeem on the Mog Station.

Director and producer Naoki Yoshida announced the partnership during the recent Live Letter detailing Patch 7.5. The collaboration revealed that composer Masayoshi Soken and community manager Toshio Murouchi had helped design the apparel lineup.

Food, Fashion, and Themed Boxes

Jollibee's menu includes two FFXIV-themed meals. One features a six-piece Chickenjoy paired with three blue raspberry aether drinks topped with crystal boba. The other is a box meal containing a chicken sandwich (original or spicy), fries, a peach mango pie, one-piece Chickenjoy with gravy, and the signature boba drink. In Canada, customers get a pineapple quencher instead. The blue raspberry drink mimics the appearance of FFXIV's aetherytes and marks the only entirely new menu item.

Both meal packages come in branded packaging with exclusive artwork. The boxes include a cheeky disclaimer: "No chocobos were harmed in the making of this meal," a nod to the chocobo mount that appears throughout the series. One design features Alpha, the baby character from the Endwalker expansion, holding a drumstick.

The apparel collection includes crew neck sweaters and t-shirts depicting the Jollibee mascot riding a chocobo, plus hooded sweatshirts and additional tees showing Moogles enjoying various Jollibee menu items. Each piece displays the phrase "Hear...feel...think...Jollibee" on the back, a riff on the in-game goddess Hydaelyn's words. The lineup will be available through Complex.com.

A popup celebration of the collaboration will take place at the Jollibee location near Anaheim, California during the FFXIV Fan Fest weekend, April 24 and 25. The location will be decorated to match the theme and offer exclusive stickers while supplies last.

Patch 7.5 launches on April 28, with the broader expansion details expected to surface at Fan Fest just before the content drop.

Author Emily Chen: "This feels like the kind of partnership that works precisely because it doesn't try to force anything, just lets two brands that mean something to different communities have fun together."
