Indie.io rolled out Indie Pass on Monday, a subscription platform dedicated entirely to independent games. The service launches with more than 70 titles across multiple genres, sourced from developers worldwide.
The move targets a persistent problem in gaming: indie titles struggle to gain visibility on crowded digital storefronts where new releases arrive constantly. Indie Pass aims to solve discovery while offering indie developers a predictable revenue stream without forcing them into platform exclusivity deals.
The launch catalog mixes games published by indie.io itself, including Forgotten Seas and SCP: Fragmented Minds, alongside titles from other publishers like Kaya's Prophecy. Players can browse by Cozy, RPG, Strategy, Horror, Action, Simulation, and Roguelite categories, with additional filtering options for game features, playtime length, and language support.
Pricing starts at $6.99 per month or $55.92 annually. The service operates globally with regional pricing in euros and British pounds. Subscriptions grant unlimited access to the entire catalog while active, with new games added on an ongoing basis, though the update schedule remains unspecified. Third-party marketplaces like Inven will also sell subscriptions, with more retailers planned.
Getting started requires downloading a dedicated launcher where all Indie Pass titles appear. The platform includes a search function and robust filtering tools to help players discover games they might otherwise miss.
Developers interested in submitting their work can do so through the official submission page. More details are available on the Indie Pass website, with updates shared across Instagram and X.
Author Emily Chen: "Indie Pass solves a real problem for smaller developers, but it'll only matter if the catalog keeps growing and stays curated enough to actually stand out from the noise."
