Stardew Valley Fans Can Now Crochet Their Favorite Items, Coming January 2027

A decade after its initial release, Stardew Valley is still finding new ways to expand its reach beyond the game itself. The latest venture brings the cozy farming simulator into the craft world with an official crochet pattern book arriving next January.

The Official Stardew Valley Crochet Book will feature 45 distinct projects designed to bring the game's beloved characters and items to life in yarn form. The collection includes patterns for iconic creatures like Junimos and Slimes, alongside recognizable in-game objects such as the Galaxy Sword, Mermaid Pendant, and Lucky Purple Shorts. Each pattern comes with multiple color and style variations to suit different crafting preferences.

The projects lean heavily toward amigurumi, a crochet technique that creates small, three-dimensional figures. This approach plays naturally to Stardew Valley's roster of charming collectibles and critters. One example highlighted in the announcement shows how a single egg pattern can branch into variations for void eggs, standard white eggs, and brown eggs. Similarly, crafters will find numerous options for assembling an entire Junimo family in different colors and styles.

Megan Lapp designed the actual crochet patterns, while Ryan Novak served as a collaborator on the project. Novak previously worked on The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook, which published through the same publisher as this crochet book. The finished patterns will be accompanied by new illustrations and character tips from Pelican Town residents, giving the book a more narrative feel than a standard instruction manual.

The book launches January 26, 2027, in both hardcover and eBook formats. Preorders are already live at major retailers. Amazon lists both versions at $32, though the eBook's actual retail price runs $13.99. Barnes & Noble has discounted the hardcover edition to $29 for early buyers.

The crochet book represents another anniversary gift to the game's fanbase, arriving as Stardew Valley marks its 10th year. Version 1.7 is scheduled to deliver new in-game content later this year, continuing creator concernedape's commitment to expanding the farming life simulator long after its initial launch.

Author Emily Chen: "A crochet book for Stardew Valley is exactly the kind of left-field merchandise move that works because the game's community actually wants it, not because marketing departments think they do."
