CI Games has shelved its fall 2026 launch window for Lords of the Fallen 2, pushing the dark fantasy sequel into early 2027 with no specific date yet announced. The decision came as the studio determined it needed more time to refine the game before launch.

CEO Marek Tyminski attributed the delay to input from a specialized Gameplay Feedback Team composed of experienced Souls-like veterans embedded within the development group. Their ongoing collaboration with the core team uncovered refinements worth pursuing, he explained, ones that would require additional integration, iteration, and polishing work to execute properly.

The timing also reflects a strategic calculation about the gaming market. September 2026 has become a traffic jam of major releases, with publishers scrambling to position games away from Grand Theft Auto 6's November arrival. Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are all arriving in September, while October offers only marginally better breathing room alongside Modern Warfare 4. By skipping the entire holiday rush, Tyminski said Lords of the Fallen 2 would avoid being lost in the crowd and gain the audience attention the studio believes it deserves.

"The team remains fully energized by the strong response to our recent reveals and is deeply focused on delivering a standout dark fantasy action RPG and a worthy successor to the Lords of the Fallen franchise," Tyminski stated, emphasizing the developer's commitment to quality over meeting an arbitrary deadline.

The move places Lords of the Fallen 2 in a growing pack of delayed releases now targeting early 2027. Fable abandoned its 2026 ambitions for similar reasons, signaling that other publishers may follow as the year progresses and competitive calendars become clearer.
