PlayStation Plus Purge Looms: 12 Games Vanishing in July

Sony is trimming its PlayStation Plus catalog once again. Come July 21, a dozen titles will disappear from the Extra and Premium tiers, giving subscribers a final window to experience games like Risk of Rain 2, Tropico 6, and the narrative adventure Roki before they're gone.

The departing lineup skews toward indie and mid-tier fare, with roguelike shooter Risk of Rain 2 being perhaps the most recognizable name among the bunch. Strategy sim Tropico 6, puzzle-golf hybrid Cursed to Golf, and farming management game Hundred Days round out a roster that pulls from various genres. Older titles like Onechanbara Origin, Get Even, and the space strategy game Bomber Crew will also exit, as will Infinite Minigolf and Source of Madness.

For those who haven't made time for these games, the clock is ticking but there's still roughly a month before they vanish from the service.

The silver lining: Sony is backfilling the library with heavier hitters. Final Fantasy 16 lands June 16 on PS5, followed by Sonic X Shadow Generations on June 10 in the U.S. and U.K. (June 11 in Japan). Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Life is Strange: Double Exposure both arrive June 23, while Farming Simulator 25, Blades of Fire, and Black Desert drop on June 30. Premium subscribers will also gain access to Gitaroo Man on June 16.

Sony has staggered these releases throughout the month rather than dumping them all at once, a pattern that gives the company better control over library visibility and lets players digest new additions gradually.

PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members get access to rotating catalogs of games beyond the standard tier's monthly freebies and online play. Keeping track of what's leaving each month has become routine for engaged subscribers who want to make sure they don't miss anything before it vanishes.

Author Emily Chen: "Final Fantasy 16 joining the catalog is the real story here, but don't sleep on Sonic X Shadow Generations either."
