The Wolf Among Us 2 finally arrives in 2027 as remaster launches this year

Telltale Games confirmed tonight that The Wolf Among Us 2 will release in 2027 across multiple platforms, marking a milestone for a sequel that has endured nearly a decade of production turmoil, studio shutdowns, and partnership changes.

The announcement came during Summer Game Fest 2026. The sequel will launch on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Before the full sequel arrives, Telltale will release The Wolf Among Us Remastered this holiday season on the same platforms minus PlayStation 4. The remaster features overhauled visuals, UI improvements, new accessibility options, and roughly an hour of bonus content pulled from deleted scenes, accompanied by cast interviews.

The original The Wolf Among Us, based on the Fables comic book series, became a fan favorite when it launched years ago. Development of a sequel began around 2016 but hit roadblock after roadblock. The journey included Telltale's complete shutdown, a later revival, a creative reboot, repeated delays, staff layoffs, and a fractured working relationship with AdHoc Studio, a partner developer who spent several years on the project before parting ways.

Set in modern-day New York, the sequel picks up after the events of the original game in Fabletown, a hidden enclave where fairytale characters live among humans. The story finds Snow White struggling to maintain control as underlying power struggles threaten to boil over. Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown, becomes entangled in a vicious crime spree that could shatter the fragile peace holding the community together.

According to Telltale's description, Bigby must investigate a conspiracy that tunnels into the city's criminal networks while suspicion spreads and powerful enemies circle. His decisions will define both his role as sheriff and his own nature.

Author Emily Chen: "A decade-long wait for a narrative adventure game is brutal, but if Telltale sticks to the 2027 timeline and delivers the noir storytelling that made the original click, the payoff could justify the patience."
