Wolverine Preorders Live: PlayStation Exclusive Arriving September 2026

Marvel's Wolverine is officially available for preorder ahead of its September 15, 2026 launch on PlayStation 5. The highly anticipated exclusive is priced at $69.99 across major retailers including Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart, with a digital deluxe edition available for $79.99 through the PlayStation Store.

Sony gave players their first extended look at gameplay during a recent State of Play presentation. The presentation confirmed that Insomniac's take on the character leans heavily into narrative-driven action rather than open-world exploration. The combat system emphasizes visceral, violent encounters, with Wolverine's Healing Factor ability triggered by button inputs during fights. Stealth mechanics also factor into the experience, though the overall structure mirrors linear story-focused games like God of War more closely than Insomniac's previous Spider-Man titles.

The gameplay footage teased appearances by other X-Men characters including Jean Grey and Mystique, suggesting a wider Marvel universe presence within the campaign.

Preorder bonuses include a Classic Brown Suit outfit, reflective claws, four PlayStation avatars, and one additional technique point. Those opting for the digital deluxe edition gain access to five exclusive suits (Incredible, Savage, Age of Apocalypse, Night Hunt, and New Leather), five exclusive claw variants, and three extra technique points.

PC players should not expect this game to arrive on other platforms anytime soon. PlayStation confirmed earlier this year that future first-party narrative-driven single-player games will remain exclusive to PlayStation hardware. That decision applies directly to Wolverine alongside recent titles like Ghost of Yotei.

Author Emily Chen: "Wolverine is shaping up to be something genuinely different from what Insomniac delivered with Spider-Man, and that's exactly what the character deserves."
