Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls revealed its next batch of playable characters during Sony's June State of Play presentation, bringing Carnage, Green Goblin, and Magneto into the roster as part of a villainous team led by Doctor Doom.
The trio will round out the Knights of Doom faction when Arc System Works' fighting game launches August 6, 2026. During the presentation, developer footage showed each character engaging in combat against heroes including Iron Man, Storm, and Spider-Man, demonstrating their distinct fighting styles and move sets.
Carnage's reveal had been building momentum for weeks following a teaser that left the community buzzing with speculation. Magneto and Green Goblin, however, caught many players off guard. Prior to the announcement, neither character had surfaced in leaks or official hints, making their inclusion a genuine surprise for the fighting game community.
The State of Play showcase also introduced a new stage called New York Night, providing fresh arena backdrop for matches. Alongside the character announcements, Arc System Works offered a first glimpse at The Champion, another addition coming to the game's roster.
New character art created by Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls character artist Yuki Kato was featured at the end of the presentation video, giving fans a fresh visual of the game's aesthetic direction.
According to the Arc System Works team, the Knights of Doom roster completes all but one of the game's playable factions. That final team remains unannounced, leaving players wondering which hero or villain group will complete the lineup.
Fans attending Evo 2026 in Las Vegas on June 26 will get hands-on time with the game, including a playable demo featuring Magneto and the New York Night stage. The fighting game community often uses major esports events like Evo to get an early feel for new titles before wide release.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls arrives August 6, 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5. Arc System Works has cultivated a strong reputation in the fighting game space with titles like Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Marvel Tokon is shaping up to be another significant entry in the studio's portfolio.
Author Emily Chen: "Three villains at once signals Arc System Works is moving quickly toward launch, and holding back one full team for reveal is a smart move to keep momentum going through summer."
