Trump Taps Ousted AG Bondi for White House AI Council

President Trump has appointed Pam Bondi, whom he removed as Attorney General last month, to a prominent advisory panel on artificial intelligence policy.

Bondi will serve on the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, a group chaired by David Sacks, Trump's former White House AI adviser, and Michael Kratsios, the White House science adviser. The council includes more than a dozen technology executives, among them Nvidia co-founder Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.

Her assignment centers on bridging communications between the Trump administration and the tech leaders sitting on the board. She will work to coordinate policy initiatives and alignment on key issues affecting the sector.

Vice President JD Vance praised the appointment in a statement, saying Bondi has been "an enormously valuable asset to the president's team" and expressed enthusiasm about her continued involvement in tackling major challenges facing the administration.

The role represents a new path for Bondi after her unexpected departure from the Justice Department. In addition to her spot on the AI council, she has also been named to a newly created advisory position focused on national infrastructure.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Bondi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after leaving the Justice Department. She has undergone treatment and is recovering from the illness.

Author James Rodriguez: "The assignment signals Trump's reluctance to let go of trusted figures even after formal dismissals, though Bondi's health challenges make the timing of a heavy advisory load worth watching."
