Melissa, the recycled plastic footwear brand known for its collaborations with high-fashion houses like Jean Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs, is teaming up with Copenhagen-based fashion label Ganni for a collection that's poised to dominate warm-weather dressing.
The partnership brings together Melissa's signature jelly materiality with Ganni's graphic prints and playful ruffles, creating a pair of shoes that feel both nostalgic and decidedly current. The collection centers on two silhouettes: a slim flip-flop and a thong kitten heel, each arriving in cherry red, bright yellow, aqua blue, classic black, and Ganni's signature leopard print.
Paulo Pedó, Melissa's brand director, described the collaboration as organic. "Ganni brings a distinctly original perspective to dressing, balancing attitude with a sense of playful irreverence that both reflects and reimagines everyday Danish style," he said in a statement. "By infusing this vision into Melissa's DNA and signature materiality, the collaboration came together organically, translating the defining codes of both brands into products with a strong point of view and undeniable appeal."
The timing feels right. Jelly sandals and PVC footwear have quietly become summer staples, and these shoes offer an accessible entry point into the trend without sacrificing style or substance. The kitten heels work equally well poolside or on the dance floor, while the flip-flops pair seamlessly with either brand's existing collections or any basic summer wardrobe.
After testing the shoes ahead of launch, the blue heels proved to be an instant favorite. The cushioned soles feel supportive, and the playful design actually justifies the hype. They're the kind of shoe you pack for a Miami Swim Week appearance and then end up wearing straight through a vacation in Aruba.
The Melissa x Ganni collaboration drops on both brands' websites on May 18 at 7 a.m. ET. Stock is expected to be limited.
Author Jessica Williams: "This collab finally makes jelly shoes feel smart instead of nostalgic, which is exactly the move both brands needed to make this summer."
